new york city, ny, usa

More than 3,200 dogs descended on the West Side of Manhattan during 'Westminster Week' in February 2017. The 141st Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is the highlight of the canine calendar and attracts competitors from as far a field as China. There are 200 breeds of dogs at the show, with the most popular being the Golden Retriever, followed by the Labrador Retriever and the French Bulldog. 2017 saw three new breeds introduced to the show: The Sloughi, the Pumi and the American Hairless Terrier. The week culminates with the auspicious Best in Show title, which this year was awarded to a 5 year old German Shepherd bitch named Rumor from Wisconsin.
